Driver's Education Refresher Course
  • AARP Driver Safety Education Program
    The AARP Drivers Safety Program class consists of two four-hour days, and is designed as a driving refresher for motorists age 50 and older. The class is offered at the North Shore Senior Center (847-784-6000).or the Meskill Senior Center (847-256-9111). The course provides education and training concerned with the driver's license test and accident prevention. Completion of the two-day class may entitle the participant to a discount on his or her auto insurance. Registration is required.
  • AARP Online Driver Safety CourseThe AARP Driver Safety Education course also is available online. The course is self-paced and interactive and can be taken at the time and place of your choice.

Parking for Persons With Disabilities

    A person with disabilities may apply for a handicapped state vehicle license plate. An application form signed by a physician is required.

  • Temporary Disability Placards
    Disabled Parking Cards may be obtained in lieu of the State disabled vehicle license and provide the same privileges as the plate. The card may be used in any vehicle in which the cardholder is a driver or passenger. It must be displayed so it can be seen from the outside when parking in a handicapped space. Both permanent and temporary applications are available at:
    Once the application has been completed, it must be submitted to the Township office if it is a temporary card (up to three months) or to the Secretary of State's office in Springfield, if it is a permanent application.
    All applications must be properly certified by a physician.
  • Vehicle License Information
    • Illinois License Plate Fee Reduction
      Persons who qualify for the Illinois Department on Aging's Circuit Breaker program are entitled to purchase state license plates at half price through the state's Reduced Fee License Plate program. Persons qualifying for Circuit Breaker will receive a discount card automatically. It must be submitted with the license plate application each year. The discount applies to one set of plates per household per year. The program is administered by the Illinois Department of Revenue. For further information, call 1-800-252-8980.
    • Village of Wilmette Vehicle License
      The Village of Wilmette offers a $10 reduction on vehicle stickers to residents over 65 years of age with a maximum annual income of $33,450 for a one person household, $38,250 for a two person household, and $43,000 for a three or more person household. These income levels are under HUD guidelines. Apply at the Village Hall, 1200 Wilmette Avenue, when purchasing your vehicle sticker.
